ANTHROPOCENE

Kawita Vatanajyankur, Nicole Monks, Andy Mullens and Laura Doggett

March 3 – 18, 2017

Exploring the human relationship with geological, physical and natural worlds, Anthropocene is an exploration of the female body and the land on which it survives and thrives. As we fight against the rising tides in a world marred by humankind, so too do women continue to fight for equality. Themed Anthropocene, the works manifest subversive views of this newly discovered and somewhat contentious geological epoch, in which the earth is defined by its negative interaction with humankind.

The four featured artists investigate unique stories of female bodies through a cross-cultural lens while telling of how they engage with their physical, socio-political and cultural environment.
